Texas Advantage Community Bank Organizers

Texas Advantage Community Bank N.A., a national bank charter, opened for business on December 18, 2006 in Alvin, Texas. Local banker and organizer, Mike Hoskins, and a group of local organizers, investors and veteran bankers bring a premier community bank into the northern Brazoria County market. Hoskins states, "Our organizers are all from the area and see a need for a locally owned and independently operated bank to serve the rapidly growing Alvin, Pearland and Friendswood marketplace."

The application for the new charter was filed in July of 2006 and approved in November of 2006.  After successfully raising capital throughout the Alvin, Pearland and Friendswood area, we opened for business on December 18, 2006.  In July of 2007 the bank relocated into its main office located at 1701 Fairway Drive in Alvin, Texas at the intersection of Fairway Drive and Highway 35 Bypass.  It is a full service location very visible from the Bypass and convenient for both business and individual customers.  The bank has two ATMs on site for 24 hour banking convenience and drive thru banking with extended hours.

The organizers of Texas Advantage Community Bank N.A. were Mike Hoskins, Jay Hawkins, Tommy Herring, David Wight, George Clark (deceased), Dr. Gregg Knape, Mark Patterson, Doyle Swindell and Linn Eignus. Bill Sloan and Sheila Phillips were organizing xecutive officers of the bank.

Bank organizer Mike Hoskins serves as the President and CEO of the bank and has over thirty years of banking experience including 10 years of experience serving as President of three successful area community banks including The Express Bank, in Alvin, First Bank Pearland and League City National Bank.  Jay Hawkins is currently serving as Board Chairman. Jay is a life long resident of Alvin and remains actively involved in the community. Jay owns and manages Hawkins Lease Service, Inc. a successful oil pipeline servicing company whose home office is in Alvin. Tommy Herring is a lifelong resident of Alvin and has thirty years of business experience in the farming and real estate industry. Tommy is co-owner of Clyde Herring and Sons, Inc., an Alvin based farming operation. David Wight has operated his underground utility construction and paving company, David Wight Construction Co. Ltd., in Alvin for thirty-one years. George Clark (deceased) had ten years of past bank director experience with a local community bank and owned and managed Limeco, Inc. in Pearland for twenty-five years. Dr. Gregg Knape is a life long resident of Alvin and has operated Gulf Coast Large Animal Clinic and Veterinary Services, in Alvin for twenty-three years. Mark Patterson has previously served on two bank boards in Alvin and has twenty-two years of experience in the ownership and management of PATCO Lumber and ACE Hardware in Alvin. Doyle Swindell has worked in Alvin for Pearson Chevrolet which later became Ron Carter, for sixty years. He has continuously been recognized for his community leadership and has served on the Board of Trustees of Alvin Community College since 1982 where he currently serves as Chairperson. Linn Eignus has previous bank director and consulting experience with a local community bank. Mr. Eignus is a life long resident of Friendswood with forty-nine years of experience in the insurance industry. The organizing executive officers include Bill Sloan and Sheila Phillips. Mr. Sloan, a Pearland resident, has twenty-eight years of banking experience and is the Executive Vice President and Senior Lending Officer. Ms. Phillips, a long time Alvin area resident, will serve as Executive Vice President and Cashier of the bank and has twenty-five years of local banking experience.

Michael R. Hoskins
Michael R. Hoskins, is President and Chief Executive Officer and is director of the bank. Mr. Hoskins is a seasoned banker with over 30 years of banking experience in the Brazoria County and Southeast Houston, Texas area. During that time, Mr. Hoskins served in the capacity as president of three successful area community banks, including: The Express Bank in Alvin, Texas; First Bank of Pearland, Texas and League City National Bank in League City, Texas. As the result of subsequent acquisitions, Mr. Hoskins most recently served in senior management positions with First Community Bank, N.A. and Wells Fargo Bank, N.A. Mr. Hoskins is a graduate of the University of Houston and the Graduate School of Banking at Louisiana State University. He has been very active in serving in leadership positions on community boards and associations throughout Brazoria and Galveston Counties. Mr. Hoskins is a current member and a past director of the Alvin Rotary Club, a former board member of the Alvin Economic Development Foundation and the past chairman of the Brazoria County Taxpayers Research Council. He has been actively involved in the local area's Chambers of Commerce with past service as a director of the Alvin/Manvel Chamber of Commerce, director of the Texas City/La Marque Chamber of Commerce and as past chairman and a director of the North Galveston County Chamber of Commerce.
Richard" Jay" Hawkins
Richard" Jay" Hawkins is a lifetime resident of Alvin, Texas. He serves as director of the bank and as the chairman of the bank. Mr. Hawkins is the president and owner of Hawkins Lease Service, Inc., an oilfield and oil producing pipeline service company which he started in 1981 after working in production for the Amoco Corporation for several years. Hawkins Lease Service, Inc. is a member of the Association of Energy Servicing Companies, (A.E.S.C.) and has offices in Alvin and Alice, Texas. Actively involved in this community, Mr. Hawkins is a current member and past director of the Alvin/Manvel Chamber of Commerce; currently chairs The Brazoria County Airport Advisory Committee; serves on the Alvin Education Foundation Board, Alvin Community College Foundations Finance Committee and is the past president and a current member of the Alvin Noon Lions Club. Mr. Hawkins was recently elected president of the Lafitte's Cove Property Owners Association and is serving a second term as director on MUD 29 Board in Galveston, Texas.
Thomas Herring
Thomas Herring is a lifetime resident of Alvin, Texas. He serves as a director of the bank. Mr. Herring has been the vice president of Clyde Herring & Sons, Inc., a farming operation, since 1976. Mr. Herring also is involved in the real estate industry and holds a real estate brokers license. Mr. Herring graduated from Sam Houston State University with a Bachelors of Science Degree in 1976. He serves on the economic development committee and the transportation committee for the Alvin/Manvel Chamber of Commerce where he was a former "Volunteer of the Year" and a director. Mr. Herring is the vice president of the Texas High School Rodeo Association and the Youth Rodeo Association for southeast Texas. He is a lifetime member of the Brazoria County Cattlemen's Association and Alvin Youth Livestock Arena Association.
David Wight
David Wight was born in Houston, Texas and is a long time resident of Alvin, Texas. He serves as a director of the bank. He is the owner of David Wight Construction Co. Ltd located in Alvin, Texas, a successful paving and underground utility construction company which has been in business for the past 31 years.
George Clark Jr.

George Clark Jr.
George Clark Jr. was a longtime resident of Pearland, Texas and the president and owner of Limeco Inc., which has been in business for the past 29 years and is located in Pearland, Texas. He served as a founding director of the bank. Mr. Clark was an organizer and director of First Community Bank, N.A. from 1995 until it was acquired by Wells Fargo Bank, N.A. in 2005. Mr. Clark was a graduate of the University of Houston.
Gregory Knape
Gregory Knape, D.V.M. grew up in Alvin, Texas and attended Texas A&M University earning his Bachelors of Science Degree as well as his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. He serves as a director of the bank. Mr. Knape currently owns and operates Gulf Coast Large Animal Clinic and Veterinary Services in Alvin, Texas which has been in business since 1983. Mr. Knape remains very involved in community programs. He is the president of the Alvin/Danbury/Manvel Aggie Club and is a board member of the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine Foundation. Mr. Knape is the official Veterinarian for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. He has served on the Executive Committee for the Brazoria County Fair and as a director of the Brazoria County Cattlemen's Association.
Mark Patterson
Mark Patterson was born and raised in Alvin, Texas. He is a graduate of Alvin High School and graduated with a BBA from Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. He serves as a director of the bank. Mr. Patterson has been part owner and vice president of PATCO Lumber and ACE Hardware in Alvin, Texas for 22 years. Mr. Patterson has 12 years of bank director experience at both Alvin National Bank and Alvin State Bank, serving on the loan and audit committees of each bank. He is a current a member and past board member of the Alvin Rotary Club and is a past board member of the Alvin/Manvel Chamber of Commerce.
Doyle Swindell
Doyle Swindell has lived and worked in Alvin, Texas for more than 60 years. He serves as a director of the bank. He graduated from Alvin High School and then enlisted in the United States Air Force and served on active duty for 4 years where he received the "Outstanding Airman Award". After being discharged he attended Alvin Community College and began working for the Pearson Chevrolet Company in Alvin, Texas. He is a graduate from the two-year General Motors Transportation School and worked for Pearson Chevrolet for 32 years. After Ron Carter purchased Pearson Chevrolet, Mr. Swindell worked as the Fleet Manager and Manager of Fixed Operations at Ron Carter and then became the General Sales manager for its Ford, Chrysler, Jeep and Toyota Divisions. He was later named General Fleet Manager for the entire dealership complex. Mr. Swindell retired from active sales and management in 1999 and currently is working in the position of marketing and public relations for the Ron Carter Automotive Center. Mr. Swindell has received numerous awards over the past 59 years during his employment in the auto industry. These awards include: the automobile industry's prestigious "Legion of Leaders Award" for outstanding Sales, Chevrolet Motor Division (annually for twenty consecutive years); the "Society of Sales Executive Award", Chevrolet Motor Division and the "Vanguard Club Award for Sales, Oldsmobile Motor Division. Mr. Swindell remains very active in Brazoria County having served in leadership roles with the following organizations: The Alvin Jaycee's since 1957, the Alvin Chamber of Commerce, where he served three consecutive three year board terms and as its 2006 chairman; American Legion, where he served as July 4th parade chairman for several years; the Boy Scouts of America, where he served in its Capital Campaign; Junior Achievement, where he served as an Advisor of its Budget and Admissions Committee; Brazoria County United Fund; Alvin Economic Development Board; Alvin Museum Society; YMCA; Margarite Edwards Trust Committee; Brazoria County Economic Development Board; Pearland Chamber of Commerce; Vice Chairman of the Alvin Independent School District Foundation and Alvin Community College Board of Trustees since 1982. Mr. Swindell has also served as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Alvin Community College, since 1996.
Linn Eignus
Linn Eignus is a lifelong resident of Friendswood, Texas. He serves as a director for the bank. He currently is a banking consultant and has been a licensed insurance agent for the past forty-nine years. Mr. Eignus served as an organizer, director and secretary for First Community Bank, N.A. from 1995 to 2005.
William "Bill" Sloan III
William "Bill" Sloan III, who serves as Executive Vice President and Senior Lending Officer of the bank, has lived in Pearland, Texas for 29 years. He is an experienced banker with 28 years experience in the banking industry, including the last 12 years with banks in the Pearland, Texas area. Mr. Sloan has most recently served as executive vice president and assistant regional manager of the Brazoria County Region for First Community Bank, N.A., and subsequently as senior vice president for Wells Fargo Bank N.A., Business Banking in Pearland, Texas. Mr. Sloan graduated with a BBA from the University of Texas at Austin. He has been a member of the Pearland Lions Club since 1995 and has served in several capacities with the club including its president, secretary, membership director, and treasurer of District 2 S4 of Lions Club International. Mr. Sloan also served as a member of the Vic Coppinger YMCA Board of Directors in Pearland, Texas for many years including 2 years as chairman.

Sheila Phillips
Sheila Phillips, who serves as Executive Vice President and Cashier of the bank has 25 years of banking experience and has lived in the Alvin, Texas area her entire life. Ms. Phillips is a graduate of Alvin High School and attended both Alvin Community College and San Jacinto College. She is a Graduate of the Southwest Graduate School of Banking (SMU) in Dallas, Texas and has earned diplomas in Commercial Lending, Consumer Lending, and General Banking from the American Institute of Banking. Ms. Phillips worked for fifteen years for The Express Bank (formerly Alvin Community Bank and Merchants Bank) in Alvin, Texas, where she attained the position of Executive Vice President and Cashier. More recently Ms. Phillips was the Vice President and Banking Center CEO for HomeTown Bank in Friendswood, Texas. She is active in the community being a past member of the Friendswood Rotary Club, named the "2004 Business Woman of the Year" by the Friendswood Chamber of Commerce and a Board Member for the FISD Education Foundation since 2001. Her prior activities include leadership positions in the Alvin FFA Booster Club, Brazoria County 4-H, Brazoria County Junior Achievement and the Alvin/ Manvel Area Chamber of Commerce.
